Say it ain’t so?!

Seeing as it is the middle of the week and you might be having difficulties gathering the brewhaha to get through the next few days, I did a search on google for “fun facts” and thought I’d share some of them with you.  Each site I visited says all these are true…you tell me. (and of course, as usual, the sarcasm in italics is all mine.) Have a great Wednesday and happy bloggin’

Benjamin Franklin was afraid of the dark. (I heard he invented electricity, which would make sense knowing his fear, but Sheldon on The Big Bang Theory says otherwise…and I believe everything Sheldon says)

The lion used in the original MGM movie logo killed its trainer and two assistants the day after the logo was filmed. (Now that is just sad. And to think…how many of us said “what a cute kitty…who’s a good lion” in a pathetic baby talking voice??….well, never again will I do that!)

The striped mittenfish, a deepwater species recently discovered in the Java Sea, can change its sex at will by turning its entire body inside out. (I named mine Chaz)

First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt was so convinced the White House was haunted that she kept a vial of holy water on her nightstand. (Was her best friend Betty Ford?)

In a very early draft of Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones carried brass knuckles instead of a bullwhip. (anyone else get a mental picture of Jones with pants low, boxers exposed, gun pointed sideways, and tatts everywhere?)

In 2004, a lab at a university in Texas received a $6 million federal grant to breed radioactive armadillos for possible use in warfare.<!––> (Taxpayer’s dollars well spent, again.  This may actually be code for “The University of Texas will try anything to win a national championship in football”.)

The face of Uncle Sam, the fictional personification of the United States, was modeled after a door-to-door salesman from Canada. (Marketing 101)

No word in the English language rhymes with month, orange, silver, or purple.  (yep, we’re all doing it right now…gurple, smurple, durple, lurple…)

A goldfish has a memory span of three seconds. (Unless you’ve got ESPN playing in the background…then he can spew every trade, every score, and every LINtastic play for the past week.)

A snail can sleep for three years. (Call me a slug, but I’m good with that plan.)

Almonds are a member of the peach family. (The same people who tell me this also say a tomato is not a vegetable.)

An ostrich’s eye is bigger than its brain. (I know people like this.)

A survey reported that 12% of Americans think that Joan of Arc was Noah’s wife.  (haha, seriously?  Where do they survey people? I’ve often thought the same thing of Family Feud, I mean come on…I’ve never even heard anyone say they’d been surveyed, yet for fifty years that show has claimed 100 people surveyed, top answers on the board….)

Have a wonderful Wednesday everyone…
