Not just any award…an EXPERT! award

UPDATE:  My sarcasm is so natural that sometimes I don’t even realize it. :-)   I have updated the awards to exclude any unintended perception of sarcasm and changed the font to stand out more. I didn’t like the lightness of the white writing.  These should be the final version.  Thank you all for your continued support of this blog!  Now go give someone an awesome award! :-)

Everyone loves to be recognized for a job well done.  Bloggers like to be recognized because it promotes popularity.  Popularity promotes the blog.  It’s a win-win-win situation.  The only problem I see with the blogger awards that are currently in circulation is the work you must do for accepting the nomination.  Now there is a good reason for the work associated, but I’d like to make it easier on you.

I’ve developed a new award system and I hope you like it.  When looking into the actual different types of blog awards, I noticed the key words in a the praise for a great blog is brilliant, funny, motivational, and inspirational.  So I made these awards:

As you all know, I’m an expert of none! But with these awards, we can give away expert status.  I think these awards could bring alot of visitors to the awardee’s blog and this is how I believe it should work:

The rules:

1.  You can award one blog per category per week  (not everyone should receive expert status, the bar is set very high!) All this means is copy an award from this post, blog a quick paragraph on your site with the awardee’s information and why you are giving them this honor and then let them know it’s out there.

2. You then shoot me an email with the link to the awardee’s blog address (expertofnone@gmail.com) and a link to your blog about their awesomeness

3. I will make a weekly post to talk about the awardee and their terrific blog!

4. Make sure when you tell them they are now an Expert! at something, please also pass on these rules.  My weekly post should be on Tuesdays or Wednesdays at the Jill of All Trades…Expert of None! blog  and if I get enough recipients, it’ll become a contest as to who was the best blog for that category for that week.  This post will also mention the nominee’s blog :-)   That way we’re all publicized on your blog, my blog, and the awardee’s blog…again, win-win-win situation.

That’s it, we’re done.  Easy peasy pudding pie…

GO FORTH AND AWARD THE NEW EXPERTS! IN THE WORLD…and happy bloggin’ ya’ll!

  1. I noticed that your categories were in quotes, which usually indicate sarcasm. So would we be awarding the honor to someone for actually being brilliant, or for being “brilliant”? I don’t think I’d want to win the second kind!

    1. Oh no!! Not sarcastic at all! Maybe I should delete the quotes, but won’t be able to until tonight. Watch for an update and thanks for the comment :-)

  2. I like this. I like it a lot! Already thinking of recipients…

    1. Thank you! I’m updating the awards momentarily, so I hope you haven’t started yet…:-)

  3. I think the awards are great ” quotes or not ” but i don’t think i would win any  and you did a great job making them.

    1. Thank you! I’m sure you’ll receive many :-)

  4. Great idea! I literally spent hours last night answering questions and following the stated rules in order to accept some awards. This sounds nice and simple!

    1. I absolutely love, adore, relish, and praise “nice and simple”. Hahaha…work smarter and all that :-)

  5. [...] Today, Jill posted something interesting “Not just any award … an EXPERT! award”. [...]

    1. YAY YAY YAY!!!!!!! Everyone sing with me…”I’m so excited….and I just can’t hide it…..I’m about to lose control and I think I like it…yeah…yeah…yeah!!!!!

  6. Okay, so opinion time. This is one of those WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU THINKING questions. I am a grad student working on a summer session course. You know, 15 weeks compressed into 5. Naturally, we work in groups that were assigned by the prof. So because the other three students are all teachers going into summer break, I get the director position and I have an assistant and the other two. My project is to do the organization chart of a government entity under the City Manager structure. (Look, it is right here in the readings we had to do). Each had work to do and we divided it up. We submit our work to the team and one volunteers to pull it all together. SHE CHANGES MY CHART. Not just changes it, but shows me she knows little about formal organizations and relationships. SHE CHANGES IT AND IT IS SO WRONG…then when I point this out, she takes another part that she flat out removed and brings it back in IN THE WRONG POSITION. Talk about WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU THINKING??? moment. Sorry, but I blistered her and now I am left to wonder…when I asked her: BY WHAT AUTHORITY DID YOU CHANGE ANYTHING? she doesn’t respond. So, I ask you your opinion of working in groups as a student…any level student…How fun is it to work in a group like this? SERIOUSLY??? FUN???

    1. HAHAHA, NOT FUN AT ALL! I fell your pain in every single class I am in during this MBA process. They claim we all need to know how to work in a group cohesively and professionally. WHATEVER. I’m not sure which I prefer, having to do ALL the work because my “teammates” are AWOL, or having to defend my work with know-it-alls like your teammate?? Sounds like you’ve come up with yet another blog topic!!! Thank you, I’ll put “WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU THINKING” on my list…great comment! Now, let’s get back to what a wonderful, awesome, fantastic idea it was to come up with an easier reward system?? HAHAHAHAHA………(love you daddio!)

  7. Clever concept – Not only will does it boost morale, but it also provides the necessary evil of promotion. Not everyone likes to promote themselves so in receiving the award the way you have arranged it they will receive an influx of visitors through out the entire process.
Personally, I think the awards you created look great. I really like the topics – too bad we can’t have one that says “EXPERT Award for Being… Sarcastic” :)

    1. Oh, that sounds perfect! The fun part about creating your own process?? You can tweak it as you go! Sounds like I may need to add an award to the possibilities…thank you! :-)

  8. Good idea, Jill. You could expand it to all sorts of categories, too. Endless possibilities.

    1. Exactly and thank you. Blogger Obscured Dreamer already recommended a great one. Let me know if you get any ideas! :-)

  9. [...] christianity.  A beautiful blog worth checking out!! Thank you Anna! Here’s a link to the Expert! award post…let’s get those nominations going! And Happy Bloggin’ ya’ll!! Please tweet, [...]
