We’re running out of days…and honestly, when the track and field events come on and I see the men primping for the camera and striking their superman poses, I turn it off. These sports lose their sparkle for me when it turns into someone trying to “cement his legend” instead of just young and raw talent trying to compete against others in the same new boat. I guess it’s like the pros versus college sports. I’ll take college sports any day over the drama queens of pro sports. Now, they’re not all drama queens of course, but the drama that goes on is too much for me to stress about. Watch college sports for the value of a kid trying to make his/her way in the world of sports and you’ll see what I mean.
Now…back to the status of the Olympics. Day twelve found Americans in the final of women’s beach volleyball. That was kinda cool and of course, the reigning champs prevailed again. Misty May Treanor and Kerri Walsh completed their three-pete of Olympic Golds and I believe we got a peak at their replacements on the podium for the next Olympics.
And my goodness, looky here…we have reclaimed our lead in the medal count! GO USA! Only a couple more days to see if we can stay on top…should be interesting!
Happy Bloggin’ Ya’ll!!

If you go by golds rather than total medals, you are still within a great chance of winning. My daughter said to me yesterday “If we don’t win, I want the Americans to win”
Awwww, I love your daughter!! What a sweetie…and you can tell her I said if the American’s don’t win, I’d want it to be the Brits!!
That’s cute… I’m all “if Aussies don’t win, go Brits!!”
I thought the Olympic winners were the ones with the most gold medals…
I hope your next thought is “if Aussies and Brits don’t win, goooo Americans!” Yes? LOL. Hmmm, you bring up an excellent point. I always thought it was overall medal count that declared an “winner”, but maybe you’re right…maybe it is the most Gold??
I love watching volleyball….and the women’s track. Not so much the men’s for the reasons you mentioned. I grew up in Iowa where there’s no pro football team – we live and die by the Hawkeyes…still even though I’ve moved away. I can’t seem to get the same loyalty established with a pro team….
Thanks for keeping me up to date! And btw – it totally worked!
hahaha AWESOME! Wow, Mom…you are SOOO smart! LOL. We need all the help we can get to make sure our kiddos don’t lose their faith in our intelligence. Glad it worked
And yes, I’m totally into college sports now. Not just because I’ve got a college baseball player, but because it’s so…innocent doesn’t seem like the right word, but clean, maybe? I plan on writing a post about all the reasons why I think college sports players should be paid. I’ll try and do it soon, around football season. WAR EAGLE!!
ahhaa,, i see USA on the top of medal tally…. good going…
Thank you!! I’d like to take the credit, but they wouldn’t have me on any of the USA teams. Haha
lolz…
