Some things I just don’t understand and although this blog has its humorous moments, it is truly a focus on life. Life, lately, is a bit confusing. Awhile ago I posted a blog about Trayvon Martin. The results were mixed, with most agreeing with me, but some claimed I was ignoring the obvious.

The obvious, they stated, was that the horrible tragedy of Trayvon’s death was actually a racial issue. I still disagree however, the debate has sparked an internal thought process about how we, as Americans, ignore racial issues on most fronts, but highlight it on others.

Why?

Here are my questions, for you:

Why is race dealt with like sibling rivalry? Meaning I can make fun of my brother, but if you say the same exact thing I declare war on you.

Why aren’t we outraged when a member of any race kills another member of the same race? It is ok to minimize that race as long as we are a member?

Why is it ok for slurs to be used by the same race, when it is considered an absolute sin if someone outside that race says it?

Should protests only occur when making a stand against another race? Why don’t we have a “Million Man March” when a crime is commited within a race?

Who determines which crimes should become a national debate on crime? The media?

Why isn’t there pandemonium about this case:

And why isn’t there public outcry of the following:

Alabama man allegedly beaten by mob claiming ‘Justice for Trayvon’

“A crazed mob in Alabama allegedly beat a man into a bloody pulp, and, according  to eyewitnesses, then left him with the words, “Now that’s justice for Trayvon.”

Are we not talking about these because people are innocent until proven guilty? If so, why do we choose to defend some with that statement and not all? Again, who chooses, the media?

I’m not claiming any particular stand on any of this. I’m just wondering why we are not ‘One Nation, Under God’…

And instead appear to be United by Race…Divided by Race.

Why?
